This wire over-the-door organizer is handy and functions well to give you extra storage space in your pantry, bedroom, closet, wherever you need it.
For me the top door brackets fit well over the door with a little bit of extra wiggle room.
What I did was assemble each side of the poles, put on the top door brackets and then hung them on the door. That allowed me to slide the baskets in place, making it easy to handle putting it together. Assembly overall was very easy.
Pay attention to which side of the baskets face the door. The ends where the basket slips onto the brackets, notice that the depth front to back of one side of the basket is deeper than the other. You want the deeper side towards the door. It’s not very noticeable in the instructions, but look at the one picture that has little arrows at one end of a basket show you two different depths and which side to put towards the door.
There was a lot of play and wiggle between each of the pole section connections. The left side fit together slightly more snug than the right, but the right side had slightly more length to it as a result of the loose fittings. This made one side of the organizer slightly longer and lopsided than the other, but not enough to interfere with the function of the unit.
Once assembled and all the baskets in place, the organizer had a twist to it and the right side wanted to hang out further from the door than the left side. I tried everything I could to get it to hang straight. I didn’t really want to use the included sticky feet for the bottom of the organizer, but in the end I had to. Be sure you get the organizer exactly where you want it before peeling off the film, because the feet are EXTREMELY sticky and nearly impossible to pull off the door once you do!
And for the sake of not wanting to store extra parts anywhere and thus using almost all of the included parts, I put all of the little plastic door protector sleeves on the baskets and the stickers for the top brackets. Only thing I didn’t need to use were the screws and wall anchors. Since the door I have this on is hollow, there was no need for the wall anchors and the screws were way too long. If I wanted to secure the top brackets in place I would use way shorter screws.
Overall, I’m glad I got this organizer despite a few flaws and I was excited to get organizing. It worked great to get a bunch of my pantry items that were cluttering shelves into a more organized fashion and gave me the space I needed on my pantry shelves to organize some of the larger heavier items like flour, sugar, rice, cooking oils, etc. I didn’t want to put a ton of weight on the door so I only put heavy items in the bottom four baskets — items we use frequently such as condiments, etc, so the weight won’t be forever.
Another improvement I can think of for this organizer is to include more of the slip-on shelf/basket brackets on the poles so that you can adjust which levels you want the baskets at in smaller increments. I had some bottles of sauces that were just too tall to fit in the organizer without turning them on their side and all they needed was just an inch or so more height.
For what you get though, I think it’s a bit pricey at $49, but it works as it should and I’m still happy to have it. In the long run I think it will pay for itself.
